I BELIEVE IN God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, his only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; the third day he arose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Holy One, like Ahab before us, we have done what is evil in your sight; like the woman in the home of Simon and Pharisee, who anointed Jesus’ feet with her tears and dried them with her hair, we have much to be forgiven for.  We have ignored your voice calling us to compassion. We have turned away from our homeless and hungry sisters and brothers. We have allowed our anger to fester into rage, lashing out against friends and family. We have much to be forgiven for, O God. Hear our pray as we pray for your healing love.

PASTOR:  In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven.

PEOPLE:  In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven.  Amen.
